Residents of a rural Indiana town are pleading with the government for help as many insist a mass influx of migrants has overwhelmed the community.

“We need some help here. We need some federal help. We need transparency between our local officials and we need more information and communication,” warned Dave Price, a resident of Logansport, about 78 miles north of Indianapolis.

During his appearance on “FOX & Friends” on Wednesday, Price discussed the local struggles residents are facing as more immigrants come to the area.

“Logansport is just not used to this. Immigrants from the Mexico area have come to Logansport over the years, so we have a lot of Hispanics in the area who have acclimated very well and have grown their businesses. and they earned the respect of Americans, and we respected them in return,” he said.

“But what we’re seeing now is a little different. It's from a third world country coming to Logansport and these individuals basically don't necessarily know the local laws or rules and how to behave here and that's what we're just asking.” Take a look Logansport, Indiana, our local leaders at the state and federal levels.

While it is not known exactly how many migrants have come to the area in the last three years, one local resident estimated the number could exceed 2,000, local news outlet FOX 59 reported.

The situation was described as “untenable”.

“Immigrant spiritual leaders told city leaders that 5,000 Haitian immigrants had recently moved to the city, but the mayor said he had no way to verify that number,” the medium wrote in a report published last week, adding that He said it's difficult to figure out an exact number because Logansport's “budgets, money and services” are planned based on its 18,000 census population.

The report also noted that even Mayor Chris Martin was left in the dark about the number of migrants in Logansport. However, he noted a “20 to 30 percent increase” in traffic and school and hospital populations.

He even considered declaring a state of emergency, FOX 59 reported.

It is believed many migrants came to work at a local Tyson Foods plant.

When the local branch contacted by phone and email, the factory did not respond to questions.

The crisis has reportedly exacerbated several key problems, including a strain on local services such as schools, housing and health care facilities, although Logansport Memorial Hospital says there are other reasons for the skyrocketing birth rates.

“Logansport Memorial has seen an increase in births this year, but that is due in part to area hospitals closing their obstetric departments. Dukes, a CHS hospital in Peru, closed in June 2024. Parkview Wabash closed in 2023. Pulaski County closed in January 2022. And Carroll County hasn't had a hospital for several years. LMH is on track to record 566 births, about 12% of which are new arrivals. “It places a significant burden on obstetric care in the state of Indiana,” the hospital said in a statement.

Price told Fox News he hopes positive changes will eventually come.

“We just want people to feel safe here in Logansport. It's been a great community to live in over the last century, and it's been a wonderful place to raise your family and do business, and we want to continue on that path,” he said.
