American pickers Host Mike Wolfe talks about his last visit with his late former co-host Frank Fritz.

Fritz, who co-hosted the History Channel's antique hunting reality series with his longtime friend and colleague Wolfe from 2010 to 2021, died on September 30 at the age of 60 from complications of a stroke TMZ.

In The sun In an interview, Fritz said Wolfe did not reach out to him after he suffered a back injury, claiming that Wolfe became the focus American pickers.

“The show is 1,000 percent focused on him,” Fritz said The sun. “I can’t even bend down enough to show you how much. That's okay. It's like you have Aerosmith and Steven Tyler, and he's the front man. I found my place, I'm second and he's number one on the show. For me that's not a problem, maybe he has a problem.

Fortunately, the two had patched up their strained relationship in 2023, as Fritz suffered a stroke in 2022.

“I got the call that he wasn’t feeling well. I just feel blessed that I was able to get there,” Wolfe recalled People. “I was there for about an hour before he died and I held his hand and rubbed his chest as he took his last breath. I took my fingers and closed his eyes.”

“I just told him that I wasn’t mad at him and that I loved him and that he was so important to me,” Wolfe said. “And then when I saw that he was having problems, I just said, 'Just go find your mother. Go look for her immediately. Just go look for her.'”

Wolfe and Fritz met in middle school

Per People, Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz first became friends in middle school and bonded as both grew up without a father.

Wolfe admitted that the interview with Fritz in 2021 hurt him The sunbut the pain began to heal when they started speaking again in 2023.

“It was beautiful. He struggled with his addiction. “I know how biased the public can be,” Wolfe told People. “And that's why it was so easy for me to forgive him when we talked again at the end, because I knew.” It wasn't him talking, it was his addiction.

Ultimately, Wolfe told the publication that he and Fritz left no stone unturned.

“When he had the stroke and was admitted to a facility, I saw him so often and was able to talk to him very openly and lovingly about anything I ever wanted to say to him,” Wolfe said.
