The hype ahead of the clash on the third Saturday in October this season is growing Alabama Crimson Tide And Tennessee Volunteers.

Both teams appeared to be undefeated heading into their clash, but everything changed last weekend. Alabama fell Vanderbilt in shocking fashion while Tennessee couldn't overcome Arkansas in Fayetteville, making the third Saturday in October this season a game where both teams will try to avoid a second loss, assuming they make it through Week 7 unscathed.

Alabama will welcome you South Carolina to Tuscaloosa as the Gamecocks look to continue the damage the Commodores inflicted on the Crimson Tide. Meanwhile, Tennessee will return home to compete Floridaas the Gators finally appear to be hitting their stride in 2024.

The duel will definitely be exciting, but an undefeated showdown would have been epic. Now ESPN executives will have to hope both have just one blemish on their resumes, as the showdown between the Volunteers and Crimson Tide takes place in just over a week.

While Alabama's loss to Vanderbilt in Week 6 grabbed headlines, analysts like Paul Finebaum also threw some shade at Tennessee for its loss to Arkansas over the weekend.

Finebaum believes there was too much hype surrounding Tennessee given her actual resume. They played two medium-level titles with almost 70 points each NC Statewho is now 3-3 with 41 and beat a decent team Oklahoma on the street. After that, however, none of it looks as remarkable as it did in late September.

“That Tennessee team we bought because they beat an absolutely terrible NC State team and a good Oklahoma team was just nowhere to be found? “Nico looked like a young player, not the Heisman candidate that so many people made him out to be,” Finebaum said. “It feels a little aberrational.”

“We're finally at the point where we're going to stop making these hasty judgments. We did it with Tennessee. It was easy to do. The NC State game was a scam because there was nothing to learn. I thought winning at Norman really told us a lot about this program. Now? NO.”

Unfortunately, a home win over Alabama can do wonders for the Volunteers' resume and their championship dreams. The season is far from over for both schools as Tennessee and Alabama will be looking for a big win against each other.
