Abercrombie CEO Mike Jeffries arrested on sex trafficking charges in New York – NBC New York

Former Abercrombie CEO Mike Jeffries was arrested in West Palm Beach, Florida, and is charged along with two other employees in a sex trafficking case filed by federal prosecutors for the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York.

An Eastern District spokesman identified the other two defendants as Matthew Smith of West Palm Beach and James Jacobson of Wisconsin. Legal information about the men was not immediately clear.

Two sources say the sex trafficking charge relates in part to the alleged hosting of sex parties where the suspects allegedly hired others to scout models to attend and participate. According to the sources, numerous men were paid to attend the parties and/or work as servants.

The FBI and NYPD are expected to meet with the U.S. Attorney's Office at a news conference in Brooklyn later on Tuesday. The case will ultimately take place on Long Island in downtown Islip, two sources say.

Jeffries was chairman and CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch from 1992 to 2014. A recent Netflix documentary highlighted toxic workplace practices that allegedly destroyed the brand's “all-American” image.

Jeffries and Smith are expected to make their first court appearance in Florida later Tuesday. Jacobson is expected to appear in Wisconsin, where he was arrested.
