Aaron Gordon agrees to a four-year extension with Nuggets

The Nuggets and forward Aaron Gordon have agreed to a four-year, $133 million extension, NBA insider Chris Haynes tweets. It will include a player option and a trade kicker, tweets ESPN's Shams Charania.

Gordon will complete his $22.84 million contract next season and then receive a maximum salary plus bonuses, Charania adds (Twitter link).

He is the second Nuggets starter to receive a major extension this offseason. Denver locked up the point guard Jamal Murray with a maximum extension of four years in September.

Superstar Center Nikola Jokic is signed until 2027/28, with the final year including a player option. Michael Porter Jr. is under contract until the 2026/27 season.

The Nuggets lost Kentavious Caldwell Pope in July and wanted to keep their remaining core intact. Denver had to finalize Gordon's extension on Monday.

Gordon was eligible for up to $143.3 million on a four-year extension, allowing the Nuggets to complete the deal for slightly less than that amount.

Gordon has proven to be a versatile starter since being acquired from Orlando during the 2020-21 season. During his three full seasons with Denver, he played between 68 and 75 regular season games. Last season, Gordon averaged 13.9 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists while struggling with his shooting from distance (29.0%).
