A grieving mother who found her daughter's “charred remains” in the walk-in oven of the Walmart where they both worked is “shocked and pained” by the discovery.

Gursimran Kaur, 19, tragically died Saturday evening at the Halifax Supermarket in Nova Scotia while working shift with her mother.

“The mother is shocked. She is mentally suffering from pain and agony,” Maritime Sikh Society secretary Balbir Singh told CTV News.

“She definitely needs help and support…she's still very unwell but she's getting lots of advice.”

The duo began working together at Walmart two years ago, shortly after arriving from India to start a new life.

Friends of the mother and daughter have shared disturbing details about Kaur's death and her mother's involvement in the search for her remains.

Kaur's mother was looking for her in the store when she entered the bakery section.

There, a colleague noticed a “leak” in the walk-in oven.

“Imagine the horror experienced by her mother – who opened the oven herself,” a family spokesperson said in a GoFundMe appeal.

While the exact brand of oven involved in the incident has not yet been revealed, other Walmart stores across the United States are known to have ovens like the one pictured installed

“As you all know, her charred remains were found after a few hours in the bakery’s walk-in oven.”

Kaur's mother is reportedly “traumatized” by the discovery.

“The suffering of this family is unimaginable and indescribable,” the board of the Maritime Sikh Society said in the appeal.

She was described as a “vigilant mother who breathes for her child’s happiness.”

Kaur and her mother were respected members of the Sikh community in Nova Scotia.

Her father and brother remained in India, but desperate efforts are now being made to bring them both to Canada.

Once Kaur's remains are cleared by the coroner's office, a religious ceremony will be held in her honor.

Officials have not officially released details about her cause of death and an investigation into the tragedy is ongoing.

A 911 call to first responders shed light on the tragedy earlier this week, revealing that they were responding to an incident in which a “A woman was locked in an oven at the bakery.”

“Oven is on.” “I'm not sure the staff has the ability to turn it off,” the dispatcher warned.

It has now been revealed that Kaur's mother panicked when she realized the teenager had not been seen in the workshop for more than an hour.

“She asked around, but everyone brushed it aside because they thought she might be able to help a customer somewhere,” the appeal states.

Mourners have flocked to the supermarket since the tragedy, laying flowers and paying tribute to the victim and his family

“Her phone was unreachable.” Mom panicked as it was unusual for her to turn off her phone during the day. She asked the on-site administrator for help.

Walmart officials said in a statement: “We are heartbroken and our deepest thoughts are with our associate and his family.” We extend our sincere condolences to those closest to them.

“We are also supporting our employees during this incredibly difficult time by providing 24/7 access to virtual care and offering on-site support, including grief counseling.”

Employees called into work this week will continue to be paid despite store closures. The shop will remain closed until further notice.

Kaur is remembered as a “beautiful girl who came to Canada with big dreams.”
