MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Welcome to the first day of November! We'll start off cold, but given the time of year we should be right there, in the lower 30s. Today, whatever clouds we have this morning will move in, giving us a mostly sunny day and high temperatures in the 50s.

High pressure remains under control and Saturday will be a similar day with plenty of sunshine and temperatures rising into the 50s. A very wet period will begin on Sunday. It will rain at times from Sunday to Tuesday. This rainfall is expected to significantly ease the drought we experienced earlier in the week. This, together with the amounts we received a few days ago, should improve the severe and moderate levels that we had been suffering.

What's next…

Sunday will remain cloudy, gray and mild with temperatures in the lower 60s. Some forecast models suggest we could have up to 1 inch for many of us by the end of the day.

Looking ahead…

The wet weather continues on Monday and Tuesday, and of course this also includes the day on which many people will go to the polls. Temperatures on Monday will feel more like late September, moving into the high 60s. Still mild on Tuesday, but slightly milder, into the lower 60s.
