Results of the 2024 US presidential election: Harris vs. Trump – Who is ahead in the swing states?

As the US presidential race reaches its climax, all eyes were on seven closely contested states poised to determine the outcome.
With both candidates, former President Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris, vying for the White House, each swing state victory became a crucial piece of the puzzle to reach the necessary 270 electoral votes.
Donald Trump secured victory in Georgia, North Carolina and Pennsylvania and is leading in Nevada, Arizona, Michigan and Wisconsin.
These seven states, five of which Trump carried in 2016 before flipping to Biden in 2020, have once again proven crucial.

Georgia – 2024 presidential election results

In Georgia, Donald Trump regained victory, capturing the state's 16 electoral votes and putting him back in the Republican column. After a narrow Biden victory in 2020, Trump's comeback in Georgia highlighted the state's continued Republican lean despite recent changes.
Georgia became a battleground because of Trump's attempts in 2020 to challenge his loss here, leading to his impeachment. Although the state has two Democratic U.S. senators, this election underscored its deep-rooted conservative leanings.

North Carolina – 2024 presidential election results

North Carolina was another victory for Trump as he successfully defended this swing state against Kamala Harris's fierce attempts to flip it. In the final days of the campaign, Trump visited North Carolina several times, underscoring its importance. Despite Democrats' significant investment and Harris' vigorous door-to-door advocacy, Trump's continued popularity thwarted the Democrats' push, marking another victory for the former president and securing his electoral path.

Pennsylvania – 2024 presidential election results

Donald Trump emerged victorious in Pennsylvania, defeating Vice President Kamala Harris in one of the most closely watched electoral states. Both candidates invested significant time and resources in Pennsylvania, making it a central focus of their campaigns, AP reported.
Trump's victory in the state secured him 19 electoral votes and pushed the state back into the Republican fold after it was won by Joe Biden four years earlier, helping Democrats break the GOP's grip on the “blue wall.” Since 1948, no Democrat has won the presidency without taking Pennsylvania, underscoring his crucial role in the election outcome.

Nevada – 2024 presidential election results

When 93% of Nevada's votes were counted, Trump was ahead of Harris by 53.5% and 46.1%, according to Edison Research. Known for its diverse population, Nevada has more registered nonpartisan voters than those affiliated with either major party, making it a challenging yet strategic battleground. In recent elections, Democrats won here by narrower margins, and that trend appeared to benefit Trump as he maintained a strong lead.

Arizona – 2024 presidential election results

With about 51% of votes counted, Trump was narrowly ahead of Harris in Arizona with 940,508 votes compared to 921,341 votes. Arizona, which Biden narrowly won by 10,457 votes in 2020, has once again become a tight race. This desert battlefield, marked by demographic changes and shifting political currents, remained a hotly contested arena in the 2024 elections.

Michigan – 2024 presidential election results

In Michigan, once part of the Democrats' “blue wall,” Trump was in the lead with 68% of votes counted. According to the Associated Press, he had 2,114,151 votes, or 52.3%, compared to Harris' 1,862,416 votes. Although Michigan was crucial to Harris' election strategy, Trump's strong poll numbers underscored the state's shifting loyalties. Michigan, where Trump won by 155,000 votes in 2020, once again proved his importance in the Republican path to victory.

Wisconsin – 2024 presidential election results

With 93.2% of votes counted, Trump is in the lead with 51.2% and Harris has 47.2% of the vote, according to a study by Edison.
Like Michigan and Pennsylvania, Wisconsin voted for Trump in 2016 and for Biden in 2020. Its electoral weight in 2024 underscored its role as a critical swing state, which both candidates viewed as essential to winning the presidency.
