Everything you need to know about voting in Nevada

Election Day has arrived across the country, including in the battleground state of Nevada.

Polls opened at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, November 5 and will remain open until 7 p.m. If you wait in line to vote until 7:00 p.m., you can stay in line until you have cast your vote.

According to the Nevada Secretary of State's Office, more than 56,000 voters cast ballots as of 10 a.m. on Election Day, including more than 38,000 in Clark County.

Where can I vote?

There will be 135 vote centers open for voting in Clark County. There are no preassigned voting precincts – anyone registered to vote in Clark County can vote at any vote center.

For the first time, Allegiant Stadium will serve as a voting center. Everyone who votes will receive an exclusive “I VOTED” sticker with an outline of the stadium.

Visit the Clark County website to find a voting center near you and see wait times.

Can I still send in my mail-in ballot by mail?

If you choose to vote by mail, your ballot must be postmarked on Tuesday to be counted.

In Clark County, you can drop off your ballot at the no later than 8:59 p.m James C. Brown Jr. U.S. Post Office, 1001 E. Sunset Roadto ensure it receives an Election Day postmark.

Can I submit a mail-in ballot instead?

All vote centers will also serve as drop-off locations for mail-in ballots. Simply bring your signed and sealed mail-in ballot with you.

You can also drop off your absentee ballot at the Clark County Election Department office or at the Las Vegas, Henderson and North Las Vegas city halls.

How do I know if my postal vote was counted?

You can track the status of a postal vote via Clark County Voter Services page.

If your ballot's status is “challenged,” you can cure your ballot by calling the Clark County Elections Department at (702) 455-8683.

You have until Tuesday, November 12th to submit your ballot.

How do I know if I am registered to vote?

You can check your status on the Clark County Voter Services page or website Nevada Secretary of State websiteand register online if you have not already done so.

If you are not registered to vote, Nevada offers same-day in-person registration at any vote center. Bring ID and/or proof of residency to any voting center and you will receive a provisional ballot.

Once election staff verifies your residency and determines that you have not voted more than once, your provisional ballot will be counted.

How long does it take for the results to be published?

Results will not be released until all polls in Nevada close. Because anyone in line by 7 p.m. can stay in line until they vote, there is no set time for the first update.

The early results include early voting and mail-in ballots received by Monday. The next update will include in-person results from Election Day.

Clark County expects to release more results Wednesday afternoon and again in the evening. Thereafter, results will be released daily at around 8:00 p.m. until Saturday, November 9th.
