GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Turning Point USA CEO Charlie Kirk, who has millions of followers across various social media platforms including TikTok, discussed a wide range of political topics with ECU students.

When a student brought up the topic of IVF guidelines and said, “50% of women over 35 often have problems with IVF…” Kirk replied, “This is a deeper problem beyond IVF, which is that we are becoming increasingly infertile because we .” are poisoning our food supply, but that’s another topic.”

According to Ryan Giguere, president of ECU's Turning Point Chapter, Kirk's tour was not about the election, but rather about opening a debate for different viewpoints on campus: “Where we can bring all aspects of the ECU community together.” “A problem or problems while trying to find solutions or at least find common ground,” Giguere shared.

The audience was a mix of students with different political positions and backgrounds.

Aidan Finn volunteered for the event and said there was a reason he came here for the tour.

“I just want to see what a lot of other people have to say, it's a free country. “People are allowed to express their opinions, that’s the beauty of the United States,” Finn said.

According to Thomas Remington, president of ECU College Democrats, the “Prove Me Wrong” segment featured different rhetoric and approach than the student Democrats.

“We bring out candidates so students can get to know them. You have a table that proves me wrong. They automatically assume they are right and are unwilling to listen to the other side. “So it really saddens me as a Pirate that they are going to have an organization and two guests on campus that are trying to divide us,” Remington explained.

Remington says the tour is intended to influence voters before the election, as North Carolina is a crucial battleground state in the presidential race.
