Cavaliers secure best start in franchise history with Win Over Bucks

The Cleveland Cavaliers remain perfect with their eighth straight win heading into the 2024-25 season. Cleveland secured its latest win on Monday night with a 116-114 win over the Milwaukee Bucks.

This is the second time in franchise history that a Cavaliers team has started the season 8-0. The last time this happened was in the 1976/77 season.

The Cleveland team finished the playoffs with a 43-39 record and lost in the first round of the playoffs, but this Cavaliers squad looks like real Finals contenders just two weeks into the regular season.

Now to the game itself, which ended much closer than perhaps it should have.

It looked like the Cavs would pick up their eighth straight win with a strong first half on both ends of the court. Cleveland went into the locker room with a 19-point lead after the first 24 minutes, but Milwaukee found something in the third quarter, outscoring the Wine and Gold 31-16 in the third quarter and taking an eight-point lead in the fourth quarter .

But some late-game heroics on offense from Darius Garland and a massive block from Jarrett Allen on Damian Lillard with less than 30 seconds left sealed the deal for the Cavs.

DG easily had the best performance of any member of the Cavaliers on Monday night. He finished the game with 39 points, eight assists and two rebounds while shooting 68 percent (15 of 22) from the floor and 63 percent (7 of 11) from beyond the arc.

Of the 39 points Garland scored, 12 came in the final minutes of the fourth quarter when the game was truly decided.

However, the Cavs don't want to stop there. This Wednesday night, they travel to Louisiana to take on the New Orleans Pelicans and extend their winning streak to nine games.
