How the Jaguars' mounting injuries are affecting Trevor Lawrence

In last week's loss to the Green Bay Packers, the Jacksonville Jaguars lost their top three wide receivers to injuries.

The spate of injuries left quarterback Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars' offense relying on other, lesser-known players to fill the void left by injuries to Brian Thomas Jr., Christian Kirk and Evan Engram.

Lawrence completed passes to eight different players last week, including two different running backs.

The receivers' injuries undoubtedly place a greater workload on Lawrence and the rest of the team. Still, Lawrence feels his job is the same regardless of who is injured or not. He knows the team will only be successful if he plays well, with or without his best receivers.

“No, I mean, I have to play well,” Lawrence said. “But it’s the same every week.” I don’t put any more pressure on myself. I have to play well. I have to play well every week to give us a chance to win. That's just quarterbacking in this league. It doesn't just affect our team or the situation.
It's just like that. “

Lawrence plans to approach things the way he always does in preparation for Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles. With veteran wide receiver Christian Kirk expected to miss the game, Lawrenece plans to do everything he can to keep the rest of the offense ready.

“So yeah, I’m just going to have, like I said, a great week of preparation,” Lawrence said. “Make sure
I'm ready to go on Sunday and go through all the things we talked about whether
That's all the guys – obviously Christian (WR Christian Kirk) isn't going to be out there, but all the other guys that are a little banged up when they're ready to go, great.

“We are prepared for that. That's not a big change. But if that's not the case, then how do we sort out all the other things and make sure that I talk to all the people that could potentially play and make sure that we're all dialed in and ready to go.

That is my responsibility and the responsibility of the coaches and we will make sure we are ready and then just go play. Trust these guys to win. We have good players. Of course, when you're missing guys it sucks and you want the guys out there. But we have players who are ready and can more than do their job.”
