Donald Trump says the press has lost all credibility and criticizes Liz Cheney for distorted comments

Former President Donald Trump joined “Fox & Friends Weekend” to discuss the public's loss of trust in the media and respond to criticism leveled against him over his comments about Liz Cheney.

Trump targeted “60 Minutes” for allegedly selectively editing an interview the show gave with Vice President Harris. Speaking to Fox News, Trump also called the Washington Post and other media outlets “corrupt.”

“They have no credibility left,” Trump said, via The Washington Post. “You have no credibility. The media has to be credible, and the media has no credibility.”

As for “60 Minutes,” CBS News refused to release the full transcript, citing the First Amendment, and rejected claims that it “manipulated” the Harris interview to mislead the American people . The network insisted that “the interview was not manipulated” and that the broadcast “did not conceal any part of the vice president's answer to the question at issue.”

On Fox & Friends Weekend, Trump spoke out against Liz Cheney after she was criticized for her comments at an event in Glendale, Arizona.

“I don’t blame (former Vice President Dick Cheney) for holding on to his daughter, but his daughter is a very stupid person. Very stupid, she is a radical war hawk,” Trump said. He added: “All I’m saying is she’s a crazy war hawk. She wanted to go to war with anyone who moves and loses a lot of people and soldiers. Getting the nation into trouble.”

“Let’s put her there with a gun that shoots at her with nine barrels, okay? Let's see how she feels about it. You know, when the guns are pointed at their face,” Trump said at an event on Thursday. “You know, they're all war hawks when they sit in the nice buildings in Washington and say, 'All right, let's send 10,000 troops straight into the jaws of the enemy.'

“She always wanted to go to war with everyone,” Trump said of Liz Cheney. “She was like a war hawk,” Trump said of Cheney.

Cheney responded to Trump's Thursday remarks on X-Friday, writing: “This is how dictators destroy free nations. They threaten those who speak out against them with death. We cannot trust our country and our freedom to a petty, vindictive, cruel, unstable man who… wants to be a tyrant.

A few days before the 2024 presidential election, Trump also delivered his closing argument on Fox, saying that the faltering economy and border crisis had forced him to run for office.

“This is a nation in decline,” Trump said. “We can turn things around, but we have to go out and vote.”
