MILWAUKEE — Vice President Kamala Harris is urging her supporters to vote as the clock ticks toward Election Day.

“We will do it, but no one can stand idly by,” emphasized the Democratic presidential candidate during her election campaign in contested Wisconsin. “You don’t want to look back on those four days and regret what you could have done.”

Harris and the Republican candidate, former President Trump, held dueling rallies a few miles apart on Friday evening in Milwaukee, Wisconsin's largest city.

Hours earlier, Trump had told his supporters while campaigning in Michigan, another key Great Lakes swing state, that “nothing matters except what happens on Tuesday.”

“Just imagine if we were one point behind. That's not us. We are at the top. But imagine if we were one point behind on Tuesday,” emphasized the former president. He reiterated that he is leading Harris, even though recent polls continue to suggest that it is a false choice.

Since time is running out, the campaign strategy is now changing.

“The closing arguments have been presented. It's not really about persuasion. It's about voter turnout. And that’s where all the energy of the campaigns will be focused,” longtime Republican strategist David Kochel told Fox News.

Kochel, a veteran of numerous Republican presidential campaigns, said: “At this point, the people’s decision has been made. There are very few people out there that can be convinced at this point. And when they decide, they choose between voting or… sitting on the couch.”

Harris and Trump each held their final events in the western battlegrounds of Arizona and Nevada on Thursday, and Friday's competing rallies were their final stops in Wisconsin before Election Day.

The razor-thin margins in those three states, as well as Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia and North Carolina, determined President Biden's victory over Trump in 2020 and will likely determine whether Harris or Trump wins the 2024 election.

This weekend both nominees will maintain the high pace.

Harris is campaigning in Georgia and North Carolina on Saturday and will make several stops in Michigan on Sunday. On election night, she travels all over Pennsylvania, which, with 19 electoral votes, represents the biggest trophy among the seven battlegrounds.

Trump is holding campaign rallies in Georgia, North Carolina and Pennsylvania this weekend. He's also making a detour Saturday to Virginia, a former swing state that has been on the rise in presidential elections for two decades. The former president will hold a rally in the conservative southwestern part of the commonwealth.

The former president made a similar stop Thursday in another blue-leaning state: New Mexico.

On Monday, the day before the election, Trump will campaign in North Carolina and Pennsylvania before holding his final rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the same city where he ended his 2016 and 2020 presidential campaigns.

But it's not just the flag bearers on the way. The running mates — Sen. JD Vance of Ohio, the Republican vice presidential nominee, and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the Democratic vice presidential nominee — are spread across the country along with top surrogates.

Far from the spotlight, campaign staff and volunteers are making their final rounds of door knocks, phone calls, text messages and emails to ensure their supporters have voted early or will cast their ballots on Election Day.

In a marginal election, that could make all the difference.

“It's about getting people to vote, returning the postal ballots, getting everything that's left before the election in the door and simply not leaving anything on the ballot box,” emphasized Kochel.
