Cardi B wows Kamala Harris crowd and criticizes Donald Trump in Milwaukee

Cardi B made her first appearance in Milwaukee at Harris' rally on Friday. But the hip-hop superstar offered something that was probably far more impactful than performances of “WAP” or “I Like It” — a fiery, nearly 10-minute speech that inspired about as much passion from the crowd as Harris himself on Friday, delivering completely caustic soundbites with her signature, seemingly spontaneous boasting.

But after Cardi B performed in a Jackie Kennedy-style power suit, she was momentarily spooked and said she was a little nervous. But as Cardi B read a speech she wrote over the phone and took time to sip water, it didn't take long for her to regain her confidence.

“Are we ready to make history,” she shouted jubilantly.

“I do not take lightly the call to show up, the call to speak out, the call to deliver a message that has been on my heart for a hot minute,” she said.

“Just like Kamala Harris, I was the underdog. I was underestimated, my success was belittled and discredited,” she said. “Women have to work ten times harder, perform ten times better, and yet people wonder how we got to the top.”

“I can’t stand a bully,” Cardi B continued. “But just like Kamala, I always fight back.”

Cardi B admitted she didn't originally plan to vote this year, telling Harris: “Joining the race has completely changed my mind. I had no confidence in any of the candidates…until she said the things I wanted to hear.”

“I believe in every word that comes out of her mouth,” Cardi B said. “She's passionate, she's compassionate, she shows empathy and most of all, she has no illusions.”

After expressing her support for some of Harris' campaign promises, including $25,000 in down payment housing assistance and tax cuts for middle-class Americans, Cardi B turned her attention to Donald Trump.

“He said he's going to protect women whether they like it or not,” Cardi B said, referencing some comments Trump made this week that were criticized by the Harris campaign. “Protecting women, especially maternal and mental health, does not mean telling them what to do with their bodies. Rather, it’s about supporting them and giving them the care they need for what they want to do with their bodies…”

“If his definition of protection is not freedom of choice, if his definition of protection is ensuring that our daughters have fewer rights than our mothers, then I don’t want that.”

Cardi B criticized items Trump sold this year, suggesting he was “hyping Americans by selling 'Trump Bibles' and other items,” concluding that Trump sold “more than just watches and Sold sneakers.”

“He sells us bigotry, misogyny, division, chaos and confusion. And it will cost you your money, equal opportunities, affordable health care, and all the rights you thought you had for your body. He will take it from you! Listen” to me. He will take it.

“I’m not giving Donald Trump a second chance,” she continued. “I'm not taking any risks with my future and I'm quite sure I won't be taking any risks with my children's future!” “I'm with Kamala.” I believe in her. And America, I believe in you to show up on Tuesday, show up and show up again on Tuesday. Let’s win this thing.”
