The FBI on Friday searched the home of South Carolina pastor John-Paul Miller – who had casually revealed that his wife had fatally shot herself during a church sermon – the latest twist in the shocking case.

Miller's attorney, Russell Long, confirmed the search warrant to the Post and Dispatch.

When the newspaper asked him what authorities were looking for, Long called it a “fishing expedition.”

The priest was not at home at the time of the search.

“There was no affidavit attached to the search warrant,” Long said.

“So I have no idea what it’s related to.”

Mica Miller, 30, was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head on April 27 at Lumber River State Park in North Carolina after she was reportedly heard crying for several minutes.

Her death has cast a shadow of distrust over her husband, who is pastor of Solid Rock Church in Myrtle Beach.

A few days before her death, Mica handed John-Paul divorce papers.

Although Mica's death was ruled a suicide by the Robeson County coroner, her family has since asked that police investigate her death “thoroughly” because 45-year-old John-Paul has accused her of abuse.

Mica had contacted the police several times before her death and made several allegations against her husband.

She accused him of slashing her tires, putting a tracking device on her car, hospitalizing her against her will and “grooming” her when she was just 10 and he was an adult.

The two tied the knot in 2017.

John-Paul announced his wife's death while giving a sermon at his church.

“Last night I got a call saying my wife died. It was self-inflicted and happened in North Carolina,” he said during his sermon.

But he has strenuously denied all allegations of grooming and abuse – and points out he was hundreds of miles away the day she took her life.

He was not accused of any crime.

But questions remain.

On Friday, a group of about 20 protesters gathered near the Millers' home as the FBI executed its arrest warrant.

Some of the protesters wore purple #justiceformica shirts, while another protester held a placard that read “Your voice is powerful” and Mica's photo with the caption “Your voice is powerful” above a photo of Mica smiling.

Authorities have not released any documents related to Friday's search and the local FBI office did not return the Post's call.

John-Paul's lawyers did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment.
