    Agatha All Along End explained

    The following story contains spoilers for the ending of Agatha all the time.

    AGATHA all the time was exactly what Marvel needed. After a tough few years of projects that largely divided fans (and last summer). Deadpool and Wolverine, which made a lot of money but didn't really make any progress), Agatha all the time arrived with a lot to prove. The de facto sequel to the 2021 mega hit WandaVision, Agatha all the time promised to follow Kathryn Hahn's moody witch Agatha Harkness in an all-new adventure, with an almost entirely new cast of characters played by Joe Locke, Aubrey Plaza, Sasheer Zamata, Patti Lupone and others.

    With Agatha, wWe didn't know exactly what to expect. WandaVision was three and a half years ago and lasted until 2022 Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness film– What could this new story even be about? As it turns out, quite a bit. Agatha It was a lot of fun from the start, but what the series really succeeds in is creating characters that we've grown to love and care about, and showrunner Jac Schaeffer's clever way of crafting a story and using these to enrich the characters she brought to the screen.     If you're reading this story, we'll assume you've been watching Agatha all the time– and that's why we won't waste time recapping the events of the entire series. But something funny happens about halfway through the eighth episode Agatha all the time, titled “Follow Me My Friend / To Glory at the End”: It feels like things are coming to an end. But… there's still an episode and a half left! It gives you the uneasy feeling, as if another shoe is about to drop – and at some point it does.

    The final trial on Witch Street occurs early in the episode – Jen (Sasheer Zamata) regains her magic (when she accidentally became bound by Agatha, a twist that served no purpose other than to further demonstrate Agatha's trolling). Nature). More importantly, Agatha helps Billy transplant Tommy's soul into a new body and Agatha herself plants a dandelion in her basement. All three succeed and the trials on Witch Street end. But then we see Agatha at home in Westview, visited again by Death (Aubrey Plaza) – and she has a score to collect.     Agatha is initially willing to give up Billy, but she shows a little growth and ultimately sacrifices herself so that Billy can return home free. When Billy arrives back at the Kaplan house and returns to his room, it feels like things are coming to an end… but then we clearly start to get a surprise Usual suspects Feeling. As he looks around the room, Billy sees all sorts of posters, objects, and clothing that remind him of the experience he and the coven had Only had on the witch street.     But perhaps the most important takeaway here is that it proves how powerful Billy/Wiccan already really is. He can create and distort entire realities with his mind – as Agatha said earlier in the series, he's really a lot like his mother.

    Episode 9 of Agatha all the time, entitled “Maiden Mother Crone” takes us back to 1750 The witch-like extended flashback showing Agatha's early life with her much-mentioned but unseen son Nicholas Scratch. And as it turns out, Nicholas almost died in childbirth – but Agatha let Death/Rio take her time, even though Death had promised to come back. Six years later, Nicholas is part of Agatha's plan to steal power from unsuspecting witches; They sing a little song (which would become known as “The Ballad of the Witches' Road”) and Agatha steals witches' magic and keeps herself strong, similar to what we saw with Alice a few episodes ago.

    But on their journey, Death eventually returns to Nicholas and takes him with her. Agatha is heartbroken and so she tends to become the sarcastic, amoral witch we know and love. Agatha has earned a reputation for knowing how to get to Witches' Road, and eventually and repeatedly persuades covens of witches to join her before tricking them into attacking her with magic. Eventually she turns the tables, stealing all of her magic and killing the entire coven.

    In a fantastic sequence (featuring “The Ballad of the Witches' Road”), we see Agatha doing the same thing over and over again over the years. This happens so often that it reaches the circle we know about Agatha all the time, It makes perfect sense: Agatha never knew how to get to the Witches' Road – she only intended to steal the power of these witches and kill them.

    However, there was a catch in their plan: Billy Maximoff. Billy's Wanda-like powers allowed him to conjure an entire witch path out of his head, much to Agatha's shock. So Agatha obeyed, and while Billy blamed himself for killing Lilia, Sharon, and Alice on the road, Agatha makes the point that, if you want to put it technically, he somehow saved Jen – because Agatha originally saved her wanted to kill all four anyway.

    Let's talk about something else real quick: The fact that Marvel and Jac Schaeffer refused to put Agatha in any real redemption arc is commendable. While it worked well for Loki, it's difficult to put a villain at the center of a project and not turn him into a real protagonist. But here, in Agatha all the time, We see a woman who remains an uncompromising murderer, albeit with a weakness here and there – and who we understand a little better by the end of the series. It certainly helps that Kathryn Hahn and Joe Locke both work so well together.

    While much of what we saw in Agatha all the time was ultimately conjured up by Billy Maximoff, all of the deaths were real – including Agatha's at the end of Episode 8. But while Lilia, Sharon and Alice remained dead – and were enshrined as a tribute to Billy's witch path – Agatha's dead is now a white-haired ghost.

    Why? One reason for this is that she is not ready for the afterlife and is unable to face her son Nicholas Scratch. She is not ready to move on. Billy almost banished her with a new spell, but when she admitted that her vulnerability was based on her feelings towards her son, he understood and let her stay with him. There is also the history of Marvel Comics. While Agatha has a long comic book history (including ties to the Fantastic Four), she has spent a lot of time as a mentor to Wanda – and much of that time as a ghost (Marvel.com broke this story down great).

    Agatha being dead but still able to communicate and move as a ghost is also a fun (and kind of silly, in a good way) ploy to keep her around for future adventures. Billy and Agatha's next journey is clearly to find Tommy's soul in his new body and explain to him what happened. When and where we will see this story play out is unclear, but after the success of Agatha all the time, It's good to assume we'll see it sooner rather than later.
