Rain brings relief from drought; Clark County burn ban remains in place –

Widespread rain brought relief to bone-dry Arkansas on Thursday as the state's Forest Service reduced wildfire danger to a “moderate” risk in most counties.

Until Thursday's rains, most of the state was at an “extreme” risk of wildfires. Two levels below the extreme, a moderate risk, means fires can still occur from accidental causes, and while fires may not become serious fires, caution should be exercised.

Many county judges had lifted their statewide burn bans by Thursday afternoon. A ban was still in effect for Clark County. Neighboring Pike and Nevada counties had lifted their bans.

Once the local ban is lifted, Clark County will notify residents through ClarkArk Alerts.
