Barricade situation ongoing in Tinley Park: Sheriff

TINLEY PARK, IL – Cook County Sheriff's deputies and Tinley Park Police remain on scene Thursday afternoon of a reported barricade situation at a home at 179th and Harlem.

At approximately 10:36 a.m. Thursday, Cook County Sheriff's Office police were called to a report of a barricade situation at a home near 179th and Harlem Avenue. The sheriff's police hostage interdiction team is on scene. No injuries were reported, the sheriff's office said. Tinley Park police have also refuted reports of a shooting.

According to police, Harlem Avenue was closed from 183rd to 175th streets. The incident is active and drivers are asked to avoid the area.

“The Tinley Park public team (police, fire, EMA and dispatcher) is assisting the Cook County Sheriff’s Department with an incident on Harlem Avenue,” said Village Manager Pat Carr. “It’s isolated in the area of ​​179th and Harlem. We will continue to update the public on the closure of Harlem Avenue.”
