The Yankees reportedly will not be looking for a new manager this MLB offseason.

The “Fire Aaron Boone” cries resurfaced Wednesday night in the Bronx. New York was in a great position to send the 2024 World Series back to Los Angeles, but blew a 5-0 lead in Game 5 and ended up watching the Dodgers hoist the Commissioner's Trophy in the middle of Yankee Stadium.

But despite the disappointing end to the season that extended the Yankees' championship “drought” to 15 years, the storied franchise plans to move on with Boone.

“Boone is expected to be manager in 2025 regardless of how the World Series goes, according to multiple sources with direct knowledge of the team's thinking,” SNY's Andy Martino reported Wednesday evening. “That would have been the case even if the Yankees had been defeated.

“The Yankees have an option on Boone for next season. In order to avoid a lame-duck year, it would be logical to follow the successful season with a contract extension.”

Boone appeared to be on the hot seat heading into the 2024 season. New York made it past the American League Division Series just twice in his first six seasons as manager and missed the playoffs entirely last year. But this year marked the fifth time in seven years that Boone led the Yankees to a winning percentage of .568 or better, and they fell short of clearly the best team in baseball.

So Boone will likely get at least one more kick in the box in the Bronx. However, it remains to be seen what his team will look like in 2025.
