Warriors 104-89 Pelicans (Oct. 30, 2024) Game Recap

SAN FRANCISCO – Buddy Hield scored 21 points, Trayce Jackson-Davis had 15 points and nine rebounds and the Golden State Warriors beat the New Orleans Pelicans 104-89 for the second straight game on Wednesday.

Golden State, set to a 12-man rotation, again received contributions from the entire roster as Stephen Curry missed his second straight game with a left ankle injury. He is scheduled to be re-evaluated on Friday. Andrew Wiggins also had to miss several evenings due to tension in his lower back.

Draymond Green had 14 points and six assists. Jackson-Davis is shooting 22 for 27 (77.7%) in the first five games.

Jordan Hawkins had 23 points for the shorthanded Pelicans, who were without guards CJ McCollum and Herb Jones. McCollum is undergoing imaging of his sore right adductor muscle, and Jones also underwent imaging tests before being reexamined at home in New Orleans.

A day after jumping out to an early 20-point lead, New Orleans quickly fell behind, taking a 3-11 lead early in the game.

Takeaways

Pelicans: Hawkins played despite earlier back spasms and completed 9 of 21 field shots with four 3-pointers.

Warriors: Golden State exercised the third-year contract option on second-year guard Brandin Podziemski, who again led the offense while Curry was sidelined and finished the game with 13 points, nine rebounds and eight assists. When he was fouled in the final minutes, he went down hard but continued playing.

Key moment

Golden State's first quarter. The Warriors had to play from behind for much of Tuesday's game, but started quickly, making 12 of 23 shots (52.2%) to take a 28-20 lead.

Key statistics

Zion Williamson kept his lead at 12 points on 5-for-20 shooting and 12 rebounds, a night after he set a season-high 31 points.

Next

The Pelicans host Indiana on Friday and begin a four-game homestand, while Golden State plays five games in Houston starting Saturday. Their next home game on November 12th marks the return of Klay Thompson to the Mavericks.
