The Celtics' undefeated start to the season ended dramatically on Wednesday night with a 135-132 overtime loss to the Pacers.

Jaylen Brown had a chance to force double overtime in the loss, but failed on a game-winning 3-point attempt in the final seconds. However, that miss wasn't what bothered him after the game. Instead, it was the visitors who fell behind by 24 points in the second half, creating a hole in the team that was too big to overcome.

Brown had a difficult time shooting (11 of 30) in the contest and blamed himself for the team's early struggles.

“Our energy was lacking and a lot of that is on me,” Brown told reporters in Indiana. “I have to be better for my boys. Just converting at the edge, simple things, making open shots. We got ourselves into a rut early in the game because we just didn't convert open looks, weren't physical enough on drives, finished at the rim, and a lot of that is my fault. But it is a way to defend yourself. We had a chance to win.”

The Celtics allowed 100 points to the Pacers in the first three quarters before turning the game around with a 33-12 win in the final nine minutes. However, Brown struggled again in overtime with two missed free throws and had a miserable night shooting from beyond the arc (1 of 11).

The All-Star forward averaged a season average of 25.8 points in five games, but his efficiency dropped off significantly early on, shooting just 39.6 percent from the field overall. He made up for it at the free throw line, scoring a team-best 7.4 times per game. Still, it's been an inconsistent stretch overall for Brown, who has struggled for long stretches of Boston's last three games.

The Celtics and Brown will get a chance to get back on their feet Friday night when they continue their road trip in Charlotte in a meeting against former assistant Charles Lee.
