fans of the Fantastic beasts Film franchises haven't exactly had it easy in recent years. Everything started so positively with the release of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them in 2016 when people were enjoying the spin-off of the Harry Potter universe. There were plans for the film to be the first of five films in a series that not only told the story of Newt Scamander, but also provided a lot of backstory to the characters of Grindelwald and Voldemort. Unfortunately, things changed after that. After two more divisive films, it seems so Fantastic beasts The series is finally finished.

Neither Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald still Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore could match the critical or commercial success of the first film in the series. While fans were still hoping that the series would eventually find a way to continue, star Eddie Redmayne has all but shut down that scenario.

Speaking to ComicBook about his new Peacock thriller series: Day of the JackalRedmayne said that this was probably the last time we would see New Scamander on the big screen.

“I think this is probably the last time they’ve seen Newt,” Redmayne said. “It was a very open answer, but yes. And that's as far as I know. I mean, you'd have to talk to the people at Warner Bros. and JK Rowling, but as far as I know, that's all. I think he might take a look at the Universal world in Florida that's opening right now and give you a glimpse of what he was up to in Paris.”

This shouldn't come as too much of a surprise to fans of the Harry Potter series, considering the decline in returns and interest over the last few years Fantastic beasts Films. The Secrets of Dumbledore accounted for less than half of the original's total box office Fantastic beasts film six years earlier, although it received much better reviews from critics and fans than The Crimes of Grindelwald.

For a while it seemed that way Fantastic beasts Saga could be the big screen future for the Harry Potter franchise, at least in the short term. However, since that failed, Warner Bros. made the surprising decision to completely reboot Harry Potter as a television series, recasting all the roles from the films and essentially repeating the same story we've already seen and read to tell.

Although he won't be returning to the world of Harry Potter as Newt Scamander, Eddie Redmayne will star Day of the Jackalwhich premieres November 14th on Peacock.
