Reports: Auburn DB and former Alabama player Antonio Kite released from team

According to multiple reports, Auburn defensive lineman Antonio Kite was dismissed from the team for missing practice on multiple occasions.

Jay G. Tate of AuburnSports was first to report the news.

The transfer defensive back from Alabama has played in all eight games this season but hasn't seen much playing time on defense since Auburn's loss to Arkansas on Sept. 21

Since then, he played mostly on special teams and scored a touchdown on a botched punt against Missouri. He has six tackles and one interception this season.

Kite began his career at Alabama and signed with the Crimson Tide in the 2022 class of Anniston High School. He struggled to find playing time in Alabama's secondary before transferring to Auburn in January 2024.

With Kite gone and Tyler Scott and Champ Anthony recovering from season-ending injuries, Auburn's cornerback room is limited to Kayin Lee, Jay Crawford, Kensley Louidor-Faustin, JC Hart and A'mon Lane-Ganus. Veteran defensive back Keionte Scott could also be in this group, as he has seen significant time as both a cornerback and nickel player.
