Weather alert – severe storms are possible again on Wednesday

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Severe weather threat returns to south-central and eastern Kansas on Wednesday, so we have issued a Storm Team 12 Weather Warning for the area. A severe threat is likely to remain in and around Wichita between 2 and 4 p.m., and then storms move east as the cold front continues to advance. The rain will be long gone by 10pm on Wednesday evening.

Expect another windy day Wednesday with a big temperature swing from west to east, with highs near Goodland in the upper 40s but warming into the mid-70s near Wichita. The wind will shift to northwest during the day.

A quieter, much quieter day is in store for Halloween, with highs in the 60s and sunshine for the region. Wind speeds will drop below 15 mph.

Another strong system is expected to develop over the western United States next weekend, putting Kansas and the Plains in a position to get good, drenching precipitation again. The isolated storms will begin late Friday evening and continue through Election Day. Much of the activity will likely be fairly scattered on Saturday, but the rain will become heavier once Sunday, Monday and Tuesday are over. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 5 inches are expected in some locations, with rain apparently falling across the eastern half of the state.
