Trash talk maestro Anthony Edwards brutally explains to the Knicks fan why he won't be moving to New York anytime soon

The New York Knicks are one of the NBA's most traditional franchises.

But the Minnesota Timberwolves' swaggering star Anthony Edwards won't be joining them anytime soon.

“Ant-Man” and the T-Wolves recently visited the Big Apple to take on the Knickerbockers in a preseason game at the basketball mecca of Madison Square Garden.

The Knicks won the game 115-110. Afterwards, Edwards swapped jerseys with his former Minnesota teammate Karl-Anthony Towns, who was just shipped to New York in a three-team trade that saw Julius Randle go the other way.

A viral video recently surfaced showing a Knicks fan trying to get Ant-Man to follow suit during the jersey swap.

However, the two-time All-Star brutally rejected the offer, suggesting that New York's notoriously febrile atmosphere would turn against him once he had a bad game.

“You shouldn’t be mad at me if I have an off game,” Edwards said. “…If I play bad, you'll all be like, 'Boo!' 82 games, I won't be good.

The Knicks have one of the most passionate and uncompromising fan bases in the entire association.

They haven't raised a championship banner since 1973, but fans still demand to win basketball. Even in its non-title years, MSG remained a pressure cooker of an arena, its iconic bright lights wilting many a star.

Edwards is one of the league's most confident stars, but even he seems reluctant to play his home games in front of such a hostile and temperamental crowd.

There's also the small matter that he signed a five-year, $244.6 million contract extension with the Timberwolves last offseason. He is under contract with the franchise until the end of the 2028/29 season.

In a recent cover story with Vikings star Justin Jefferson for ESPN, Edwards reiterated his desire to stay in Minnesota long-term.

“If I can, I try to stay here (Timberwolves) my entire career,” Edwards said.

Ant-Man is in his fifth season in the league and has already emerged as one of the brightest and most electric young stars.

He has been compared to Michael Jordan and last year led the Timberwolves to the Western Conference Finals for the first time since 2004, where they lost to the Dallas Mavericks.

Edwards then won a gold medal with Team USA at the Paris Olympics and was one of five basketball stars featured in the Netflix documentary “Starting 5,” alongside LeBron James and Jayson Tatum.

His Wolves are expected to be at the top of the strong Western Conference again this season and have started the season 2-1.

The Knicks, meanwhile, are off to a 1-2 start as the team tries to adjust to its new lineup.
