Texans WR Stefon Diggs suffered a torn ACL in the win against the Colts and missed the remainder of the 2024 season

The Texans made a blockbuster deal in April to add Diggs to an emerging offense led by second-round quarterback CJ Stroud, sending a 2025 second-round draft pick to the Buffalo Bills in return.

Houston reworked Diggs' contract after the trade, paving his way to free agency in March 2025, potentially capitalizing on a motivated Diggs in a contract year. Diggs has rewarded that investment over the first eight weeks of the season, catching at least five passes in all but one game while also shouldering the load as the team's first option following Nico Collins' hamstring injury.

Diggs' season-ending injury ends any hope the Texans had of pairing the four-time Pro Bowl WR with a potentially healthy Collins (who is eligible to come off injured reserve next week) for the long-term run of the season.

“It sucks,” Stroud said Tuesday following news of Diggs' injury. “It's not easy, it's not something I just have a few words for. At least that's what he told us. I just feel for him and hope he keeps his head up and knows he'll come back even stronger.

The 6-2 Texans will now rely more on wide receiver Tank Dell, tight end Dalton Schultz and second-year running back Joe Mixon to compete in a highly competitive AFC.
