Preview of the game Utah Jazz vs. Dallas Mavericks: Luka Doncic wants to prevail against the Jazz hosts

The Utah Jazz are on a roll. Two straight losses to start the season is a tremendous feat that not even Brooklyn or Portland have been able to achieve. The result is an exciting thriller Opening night against Memphisand a Blowout against the Warriors This was reminiscent of a parasol bracing itself against a huge tsunami.

Two losses and seventy-nine matchups remaining will likely mark Utah's lowest win total since blowing up their Gobert Mitchell core a few years ago. The Jazz are just exhausting themselves, and I've been chatting about something you're probably already painfully aware of. Why am I telling you this?

Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving and the corpse of Klay Thompson welcome the stumbling Jazz to an all-night duel in Dallas. In all likelihood, Utah is on its way to a loss to the runner-up from last season's NBA Finals, and things could get ugly.

Luckily, those of you who want to watch Jazz games regularly this season are certified basketball geeks and will be watching the game within the game. Here are some factors to pay attention to.

It was a strange start for jazz's young talents. Williams was very shy in the first NBA minutes. With an average of 2 points a night and just one field goal under his belt, we would all like to see Cody make a bigger impact. He's a project, but everything points to him getting used to the NBA game.

Collier is sidelined with a hamstring injury sustained in preseason and will not be available for tonight's clash with the Mavericks. For those of us who believe the USC product could be the steal of the 2024 NBA Draft class, it will be exciting to see how Collier performs in the real professional game.

Filipowski will likely play in Garbage Time again, although his output should be a fascinating story to follow.

Keyonte was struggling to find a rhythm at this point in the season, with efficiency and shot selection largely questionable. Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic could be two of the weakest fullbacks in the Western Conference, so seeing how he copes with a porous fullback should be a good indication his improvement over last season. At least we hope so.

Kessler and Hendricks have been great so far, and the Jazz's success in this game – as well as the entire season – depends on how well the young talent develops. Pay attention, because as great as Sexton and Markkanen have been up to this point, the outcome of the game is paltry in comparison to what the team's future looks like.

This fight starts at 6:30 p.m. You can watch it on KJZZ or Jazz+.
