Dallas Cowboys at 49ers: The good, the bad and the ugly from Week 8

The San Francisco 49ers continued their dominance over the Dallas Cowboys Football on Sunday evenings with a 30:24 win. Due to the plethora of injuries both organizations were dealing with, neither team was particularly impressive in this Week 8 game, but in the end it all worked out in San Francisco's favor.

It's hard to say where the Cowboys will go from here. Unfortunately, they are not a good football team at the moment and even the reinforcements they could welcome back in the coming weeks may not be enough to improve their season. But that's probably a topic better left for another day.

Today we're taking a look at some of the good, bad and ugly aspects of this Week 8 game between the Cowboys and 49ers. Unfortunately, there was probably more bad and ugly, but there was also a bit of good sprinkled in here and there.

THE GOOD – WR CeeDee Lamb

While you don't like to see a loss, it was really nice to see WR CeeDee Lamb get his first 100-yard reception of the year. He finished the night with a season-high 13 catches for 146 receiving yards and even reached the end zone twice. He and Dak Prescott had issues with their connection at the start of the 2024 season, so it's really nice to see them finally sync up and show what they can do when they see eye to eye. Hopefully it continues from here.

THE BAD – Dak Prescott’s INTs

The Cowboys are not a good enough team to win games if they lose the turnover battle. That has never been truer than it was in this Week 8 game against the 49ers. Dak Prescott's two interceptions directly impacted the outcome of the game in the 49ers' favor. This is his third consecutive multi-INT game this year and already has a total of eight INTs in 2024. This is not the type of game you expect from the league's highest-paid player, and it can't continue to happen if Dallas wants to win a lot of games this year.

THE UGLY – Donovan Wilson and the Dallas defense

Although several key starters were missing Football on Sunday evenings Against the 49ers in Week 8, the Cowboys defense had a very solid, if not inspiring, performance. Unfortunately, Donovan Wilson's coverage ability, or lack thereof, against TE George Kittle overshadowed a good night for the Dallas defense. Almost all of Kittle's six catches for 128 yards and a touchdown came with Wilson in coverage. Mike Zimmer may want to consider pairing him with TEs in the future.
