Apple Intelligence was unveiled during WWDC 2024 and is expected to launch today with the iOS 18.1 upgrade. The upcoming features are available on a limited number of iPhones, including the iPhone 15 Pro models and the iPhone 16 series. Last week, Apple confirmed that the company was aiming big this week. Apple's Grek Joswiak posted on Previously, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman predicted that iPhone users would receive iOS 18.1 with Apple Intelligence on October 28th. According to reports, the new iOS 18.1 will be launched in India today at 10:30 pm.

Apple Intelligence: The first rollout is imminent

According to the reports, the first rollout of Apple Intelligence features will take place this week. This means that some, if not all, select features will be available on iPhones today. And the others will span 2025. Here are some features expected to be available today.

Writing tools: Of course there has to be a writing tool with Apple Intelligence. It checks texts for spelling and grammatical errors, including word choice and sentence structure. It will also be rewritten to clean up what you've written and change the tone without affecting your content. Options include Friendly, Professional, and Concise.

The photo app is also getting a boost: With just a simple description – like “My cat in 2024” or “Orlando in summer” – you can create a memory film. The function automatically selects suitable photos and background music. However, you can customize them further by using memory mixes or setting a mood to shape the tone. Additionally, when creating the prompt, you have the option to add specific scenes and images to be displayed in memory.

Cleaning tool: A new cleanup tool lets you select unwanted elements in an image and use AI to remove them without affecting the main subject. Android users must be aware of a similar tool called Magic Eraser. Yes, in the Apple-verse it's exactly the same.

New Siri UI: Apple is overhauling Siri from the ground up. While the other features may not be included in this update, a new UI will be available this month. In the new interface, Siri is not limited to lighting only one part but illuminates all edges. Other elements that actually use Apple Intelligence will arrive a little later.

Priority notification: Apple Intelligence can analyze your iPhone notifications and prioritize the most important ones, which appear at the top in a new Priority Notifications section. Longer notifications or groups of several notifications are also combined. This feature also integrates with Focus Modes and minimizes interruptions by ensuring only important and relevant notifications are delivered.

But Indians may have to wait longer

Apple's new Apple Intelligence feature, which brings advanced AI capabilities to iOS devices, is expected to launch in India in 2025. Initially, the system will support Indian English and will be part of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1 and macOS 15.1 updates on compatible devices. This release follows the US English version, scheduled for late 2024.

While there is currently no confirmed date for localized language options beyond Indian English, Apple has hinted that broader language support will be phased in over time. This release is expected to bring features such as updated Siri, on-device AI tools, and multimedia editing capabilities to users in India, while enhancing the experience with new contextual and personalization options.
