Their verdict was: “Norris tried to overtake Verstappen on the outside of Turn 4. Norris was ahead of Verstappen at the entrance, apex and exit of the corner when he was forced off the track.

Verstappen wasn't the only driver to receive penalty points on Sunday, as Franco Colapinto picked up his first two in Formula 1.

The Williams driver clashed with his reserve driver Liam Lawson at the exit of Turn 2, with the stewards blaming Colapinto.

“Colapinto tried to overtake Lawson on the outside of Turn 1. He was at the apex and not completely alongside through the exit and therefore had no “claim” to racing space at the exit,” the judgment says.

“Lawson defended aggressively until the exit of Turn 1 but stayed on the track, leaving just enough room for Colapinto to stay on the track from the exit of Turn 1 to Turn 2, although Colapinto ultimately left the track.”

“Both cars were on a compromise line just before Turn 2, Colapinto even more so. Lawson gave Colapinto room at the apex of Turn 2. Colapinto maintained power, which ultimately pushed him wide out at the end of Turn 2 and caused him to collide with Lawson's front wing.
