5 takeaways from the Buffalo Bills' 31-10 win over the Seattle Seahawks

The Buffalo Bills went across the country and took care of business, defeating the Seattle Seahawks in a convincing 31-10 final.

The Bills (6-2) now appear to be the clear favorite and possibly already the winner of the AFC East at this point in the year.

So here are Bills Wire's five takeaways from this win:

James Cook is having a day

Running back James Cook had a great day in Seattle. Cook's efforts resulted in two touchdowns for him and 111 yards on the ground. His effort kept the Seahawks defense honest and they couldn't deal with the Bills' two-dimensional offense.

Beneath the surface, it's important to note that he didn't fumble the ball either. On such a bad weather day there was always that possibility.

The receiver falling continues

The Amari Cooper trade paid off for the Bills in Seattle, but not for Cooper himself. With an opposing defense having to account for Cooper, others get to shine. This time, the trickle-down effect of the trade reached both Keon Coleman and Khalil Shakir.

Shakir led the Bills with 107 yards and nine catches. Coleman had 70 yards on five grabs and added a one-handed touchdown.

The offensive line was important

What really got the offense going was playing in the trenches. The Bills offense had a very strong performance, perhaps their best all season. Quarterback Josh Allen was sacked just once for a loss of two yards. That was the only time he was hit the entire game.

Meanwhile, the ground game speaks for itself. Buffalo averaged 4.8 yards per carry as a team and Cook himself averaged 6.5 yards.

Error exploited

Some were produced by the Seahawks themselves, but the Bills defense managed to consistently make positive plays. The goal line scores gave Buffalo a big lead early on, which helped them pull away on the scoreboard. The defensive line made huge contributions to make this possible.

Pass rusher Greg Rousseau impressed again, intercepting two passes and recording two tackles for a loss. Defensive tackle Austin Johnson was the standout: his first interception for the lineman in his career.

Biggest win of the year?

The Bills have had some solid wins so far in 2024. Away against the Miami Dolphins was nice, but there's nothing like it so far. Buffalo traveled across the country taking care of a team that really needed a win and was playing good football themselves. That's impressive.
