Former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. praised former President Trump's plans to self-finance his transition, claiming it had never been done before.

“Typically, the transition team is not assembled until November 6th because GAO, the General Accounting Office, covers all costs for the transition team. Trump said: “This time I won’t do it. I'll do it her way. Put together your own transition team three months early. “And he brought in private donors to fund it,” Kennedy said during a Trump-Vance campaign event over the weekend.

The comments came after Trump appeared on Joe Rogan's popular podcast, where he discussed some of the mistakes he made during his first run for president in 2016, including appointing people to positions on his team that he would later regret.

This time, Trump began privately financing his transition early, hoping to learn from his experience and begin developing a plan immediately should he win the election.

Trump faced a wave of criticism last week over comments made by some former officials in his administration. Trump's former chief of staff John Kelly told the New York Times that his former boss fits the definition of a fascist and occasionally praised German dictator Adolf Hitler.

Trump denied praise for Hitler and responded to Kelly by calling his former chief of staff a “low man” in response to the interview.

In August, Trump announced that Kennedy, who abandoned his independent bid for the presidency this year and endorsed the former president, would be in office along with former Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, who crossed party lines to support Trump in 2024 Transition team would be included.

Kennedy argued that having such a broad group of supporters supporting the transition would be beneficial if Trump wins the election.

“There are people of all different ideologies and people that we have to face on this transition team and fight for our vision,” Kennedy said. “But I can tell you something unique: There are no corporate lobbyists on this transition team. And usually they are 100% corporate lobbyists. unlike any government we have ever seen.”
