The Sacramento Kings failed in the second game of their 2024/25 season and lost 131:127 on the road to the Los Angeles Lakers. While the Kings have held up well in both losses, losing 2-0 to start the year isn't ideal.

Saturday night's effort in Los Angeles was overshadowed by the incredible performance of superstar LeBron James, who poured in 32 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists to seal the game for the Lakers in the fourth quarter.

After the Kings' loss in LA, Sacramento's stars weren't shy about giving James flowers after his impressive triple-double and 16-point performance in the fourth quarter. Domantas Sabonis began by highlighting James' greatness (via Sacramento Kings | YouTube):

“LeBron was kind of like LeBron, you know? He went off, he did his thing and we were careless with the ball on the other side… It was amazing, he didn't seem tired out there. We should have done a better job of making it harder for him.”

The Kings' De'Aaron Fox had a similar reaction to LeBron's performance:

“Guys (LeBron's age) play in the Rec. Obviously, what he's done in this league throughout his career has been amazing, and what he's doing now, still in his 22nd year, will probably never be repeated again. “

The incredible thing about James' dominance is that many players in this league grew up watching him and being fans of him. So it's probably fascinating to see a classic LeBron takeover on the court like this.

The Kings fell short in Saturday's division game but had the game in hand until they surrendered a 21-0 run early in the fourth quarter. Without James' impressive performance in the fourth quarter, the Kings leave LA with a win. The praise from Sabonis and Fox is well deserved.
