James Franklin gives an update on Penn State QB Drew Allar after his injury against Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. – Drew Allar's status for next week's game against Ohio State is unknown after the Penn State quarterback had to leave Saturday's win over Wisconsin with an injury.

The Nittany Lions triumphed over the Badgers thanks to a gutsy performance from backup quarterback Beau Pribula and the defense, winning 28-13 at Camp Randall Stadium.

But in his post-match press conference, James Franklin said it was not a precautionary measure to keep Allar off the pitch after he sustained an injury at the end of the first half.

“I'm not going to delve into too many medical topics right now, especially when I don't have a lot of information,” Franklin said. “Will he be mobile enough to give us a chance to run the offense the way we need it? And it really came down to Drew. I asked him to be very, very honest with me. And we just didn't feel like he was moving well enough to walk. And it was even a challenge to throw it at the end of the half.”

Allar was sacked on Penn State's final drive of the first half and tripped by several Badgers. Allar appears to have suffered a leg injury during the dismissal.

After the Nittany Lions punted, Allar left the field for the locker room before the rest of the team. He was accompanied by head sports coach Andy Mutnan.

When the Nittany Lions returned to the field in the second half, Allar jogged out with a brace on his left knee. He warmed up but did not take the field for the first snaps of the third quarter.

Allar completed 14 of 18 passes for 148 yards and a touchdown in the first half. From that point on, Pribula took over, completing 11 of 13 passes for 98 yards and a game-winning touchdown.

Penn State plays Ohio State next Saturday in what should be a matchup between the top five teams. The Nittany Lions and Buckeyes kick off at noon. The game will be broadcast on FOX.
