Travis Hunter injury update: Deion Sanders provides the latest on the Colorado star ahead of Cincinnati game

Colorado Two-way star Travis Hunter was able to prevail with a win last weekend Arizonabut he didn't look like himself either. Hunter managed just two catches for 17 yards and one tackle in the 34-7 win.

Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders said Thursday that he expects Travis Hunter to be much more involved in the matchup with Colorado Cincinnati this Saturday.

“Travis is good. Travis is much better than last week. He should be able to contribute a lot more – equal to 14,” Deion Sanders said.

The 14 Sanders is referring to are receivers Will Sheppardwho had four catches for 54 yards against Arizona.

Sanders also explained the impact having Travis Hunter in the game can have on both sides for Colorado.

“They need his presence,” Sanders said. “Look at it, he may not have made a play. But just him on that side of the offense takes the safety to the back burner…it forces them to make some plays. Because you don't want to leave him alone. This forces them to do some things they wouldn't normally do.

“Then when he’s on the defensive side of the ball, the quarterback isn’t going to do that. They won't take this chance to see if he's healthy. Who wants to see if they are healthy? It may cost you 6 points.”

So far this season, Travis Hunter leads Colorado with 51 catches for 604 yards and six touchdowns. He also has 19 tackles, 2 interceptions and 3 pass breakups.

Hunter, on the other hand, was injured Kansas State earlier this month and was shut down for the second half of last week's game against Arizona after the Buffaloes built a big lead.

“The first fade we threw to him, he couldn’t extend it and get it.” Shedeur Sanders said. “He reacted kind of late. That's not Travis. I said, “Man, that's not you.” What are you doing? Are you all right?' He didn't want to leave the field. You know how he feels. But I'm proud of him. The boy is phenomenal. He’s a competitor and just wanted to play.”
