    The Dodgers star dislocated his shoulder

    LOS ANGELES – A noisy Saturday night at Dodger Stadium took on an ominous atmosphere after superstar Shohei Ohtani injured his shoulder sliding into second base during a failed steal attempt in the seventh inning.

    Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after the game that Ohtani suffered a partial dislocation of his left shoulder during the game and would undergo further testing on Sunday.

    “We're encouraged,” Roberts said after the Dodgers' 4-2 win in Game 2 of the World Series.

    Ohtani remained on the ground for a few moments, leaving the ball with a trainer holding his arm, which dragged on the ground behind him as he slid to avoid the tackle of New York Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe.

    The Dodgers lead the series 2-0 as the World Series travels to New York for Game 3 on Monday.

    When asked about the possibility that Ohtani might miss the rest of the series, Roberts said he hasn't gotten that far yet, but “expects (Ohtani) to be there.”

    Ohtani, the two-way superstar and only man in major league history to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases, limited himself to batting duties only this season and avoided injury. He had a two-out walk in the bottom of the seventh but was thrown out by Yankees catcher Austin Wells.
