Penn State forces its second punt of the night

Oct 26, 2024, 7:06:21 p.m

A valid hold call against Wisconsin, forced by a great pass rush from Amin Vanover, prevented a Wisconsin first down and third down and ultimately a punt. Penn State took the lead on its own with 2:54 remaining in the first quarter.

Penn State's first drive stalls after a bad fall

Oct 26, 2024, 6:59:08 p.m

Penn State, while not fully moving, moved relatively easily for most of its first drive. It reached the Wisconsin 28, where Julian Fleming was completely open on a 3rd-and-1 play. He might have scored if he had caught it, and would have at least set up the first pitch and goal. But he dropped it. One play later, PSU performed a version of the tush push, but Drew Allar fumbled and Wisconsin recovered. He still wouldn't have managed to reach the winning line. Wisconsin takes a 3-0 lead on its own with 6:15 left in the first half.

The interesting first trip in Wisconsin ends with points

Oct 26, 2024, 6:49:13 p.m

Wisconsin gained 42 yards on its first drive. Twenty of those came on a 3rd-and-15 completion and 15 more came on a punter run as Penn State broke its fundamentals on fourth down. The Lions' defense wasn't damaged, but a few plays set up Nathanial Vakos for a 50-yard field goal to extend the Badgers' lead to 3-0 with 11:05 left in the first quarter.
