College football heads into Week 9 after a week of upsets and surprises as teams fight to keep their name in the College Football Playoff discussion.

Week 8 was as exciting as can be.

The Texas Longhorns fell out of the top spot in the US LBM Coaches Poll after their loss to the Georgia Bulldogs, a major upset that could potentially shake things up in the playoffs. The Tennessee Volunteers handed the Alabama Crimson Tide their second loss of the season, making the SEC even more complicated. At the same time, the Oregon Ducks remained undefeated after dominating the Purdue Boilermakers.

Teams are in survival mode in the final weeks of the season, and these upsets have added additional excitement and uncertainty to the playoff race.

College Football Bowl Predictions: Georgia takes over the CFP top spot from Texas

The College Football Playoff committee is about to release its first round, predicting the top 12 teams after eight weeks of play. That means every game from now on is a life-threatening situation for teams with playoff dreams and bowl game aspirations.
