Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and The view Co-host Ana Navarro got into a heated argument Friday about Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump applying different standards to the 2024 election.

Friday's episode of the ABC daytime talk show began with the female hosts reacting to Charlamagne Tha God's appearance on CNN, where he denounced the network for not doing enough to warn voters about the dangers of Trump returning to office to warn.

As Christie sat down at the table, he quickly noted that Harris should focus on her final days of campaigning, not talking about her opponent but telling voters more about what a presidency would look like under her rule.

“Ten days ago I would have told you she was going to win, and now I see she's had a bad 10 days,” he said of Harris.

“With all due respect to her, what is she going to say to me in the last 10 days that will make me say, 'Oh, I didn't know that about Trump. Oh damn, now I won't vote for it.' him,” Christie told the panel.

“She has to close the deal for them because she’s a lesser known quantity.”

The former U.S. attorney played a significant role in Trump's transition team after the 2016 election. Christie was involved in overseeing the transition process and was initially considered a leading candidate for a cabinet post.

Despite his early support, Christie's influence waned. He was expelled from the government's inner circle in early 2017, with Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law, reportedly playing a role in that decision. The reasons for Christie's removal are believed to be political disagreements and concerns over Christie's handling of the transition process.

Even after leaving office, Christie's relationship with Trump remained complex. Christie continued to publicly support Trump's policies and was considered a loyal ally, although he occasionally made critical comments. His criticism was sometimes interpreted as strategic or a reflection of underlying tensions, particularly as Trump faced legal and political challenges.

Navarro contradicted his statements that Harris needed to do more.

“We're talking about what Charlamagne Tha God was talking about yesterday,” she interrupted. “We hold them to this high standard: ‘Your closing message has to be this and this and this and this. His (Trump) closing messages are Arnold Palmer's package, he dances for 39 minutes, makes fries at McDonald's, so why not?' Aren't you talking about it?

“He's who he's always been, and he's not going to win voters in the last 10 days,” Christie replied.

“That’s the point,” Navarro replied. “You don’t want to talk about it. You spent the whole time criticizing her…”

Christie denied that he was criticizing Harris, to which Navarro said, “That sounds like criticism to me.”

“Listen, Anna, then you have to open your ears. I'm trying to give her suggestions on how I think she can close the deal,” Christie said to applause from the live audience.

“The bottom line is that I’m not here to cheer them on. I'm here to say what she needs to do to get the deal done, based on what I've learned over time in politics. She has a chance.” “
