In a recent revelation, Australian star Glenn Maxwell has opened up about the horrific treatment of a former Indian legend during her time with the Punjab franchise in his new book.

The dynamic Australian all-rounder in his book titled 'The Showman' opened up about his time with the Punjab Kings franchise (then Kings XI Punjab) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and how his relationship with Virender Sehwag, who was in The team's mentor at the time broke the deal.

Maxwell, who was given the captaincy of the Punjab-based franchise in 2017, failed to lead the team to the playoffs and finished fifth in the points table.

In the book, Maxwell discussed the challenges he faced during the season. The biggest of these was Sehwag, who influenced team decisions and had the final say on the playing eleven.

In addition, Sehwag did not listen to others and made decisions that “didn’t necessarily make sense.”

However, after the final league game was over, Maxwell volunteered for the press conference.

To his surprise, Sehwag attended the conference and called Maxwell a “big disappointment”. Maxwell was even removed from the team's main WhatsApp group.

The incident deeply affected Maxwell and he even texted Sehwag about it.

In his book, Maxwell wrote, “I texted him to tell him how much it hurt to read those comments and added that he had lost a fan in me because of his behavior.” Sehwag's response was simple: “I don't need a fan like you. We never spoke again.”

As for Maxwell's current situation, it is unlikely that he will be snapped up by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). ahead of the IPL 2025 auction after the franchise put up a disappointing performance last season, finishing with just 129 runs in 10 games.
