The NBA is officially back, with teams and players making their debuts for the 2024-25 season in recent days.

Some players, particularly the 2024 NBA Draft class, are making their first appearances in the major leagues. One of those was Alex Sarr, the Wizards' No. 2 pick, who launched his career with a less-than-stellar performance.

In the team's 20-point loss to the defending champion Celtics on Thursday, Sarr scored just two points on 1-for-7 shooting, including 0-for-5 shots from long range. He added five rebounds, an assist and two patented blocks, but otherwise it was a disappointing performance for the team's new starting center.

Unfortunately, Sarr is no stranger to disappointing debuts. Although there are worse teams to do worse against than the best in the world.

His first Summer League appearance included one of the worst performances in recent memory, a stone-cold 0-for-15 shooting from the field that resulted in a total of zero. The Big One was playing against strong defensive opposition in Portland's Donovan Clingan, but it was still a bizarre performance.

Luckily for Wizards fans, there's plenty to do for Washington's newest draftee.

Although he had some poor debuts, he also bounced back and put in some decent performances. In his very first preseason game, he managed to score 15 points in just 22 minutes, taking advantage of many points that made him the No. 2 overall pick. And he also enjoyed some other strong pre-season games.

Furthermore, Sarr was always a project picker. Although he was drafted second, he will be a player who will need time and patience to develop into a truly strong two-way player.

For now, Wizards fans are hoping for games with more than one field goal made. That could happen as soon as Saturday when the team takes on Cleveland at 5 p.m
