Auburn And Kentucky will meet on Saturday in a game between two teams who were completely disappointed by the first half of the season. The injury report will play a big role.

If either team hopes to end their current slump, they will need to be relatively healthy to do so.

Both teams have a chance in this regard. But this much is clear: the loser of this game will not feel very comfortable with the direction things are going.

For Auburn, the team is already on a four-game losing streak in conference play. Kentucky has lost two straight and four of five in league play. Needless to say, both desperately need a win on Saturday.

While both teams will try to get as many players off the injury report as possible before Saturday, there are other considerations that will play a big role in the game.

Last but not least, Auburn's offense will be able to hold its own against a very strong Kentucky front.

“First and foremost, you know, you start with them up front and they have great size and athleticism up front,” Tigers quarterback said Payton Thorne said. “The two DTs are very large people and not easy to move. And that's just, you know, the honest account of her. Obviously they're really good players up there and their two D-ends are really good players too. Do a good job rushing the passer and do a good job in the running game. Their supporters also played a lot of football.”

The staff themselves are impressive, but so is the trainer's style Mark Stoops The way she uses them is equally impressive. There's a level of continuity in defense that you don't always see.

Auburn will have its hands full.

“Really, their whole defense was like together for quite a while and played a lot of plays,” Thorne said. “Their front seven is really talented and their DBs are talented too. They're really long. I think both corners are 1.90 meters tall. Their two safeties are also a good size and they have done a good job this year. And that's why it's a good challenge for us. We had to put together a good week at practice, make sure we knew the game plan inside and out, and then just go out and play on Saturday.”
