Tropical problems could be brewing in the final month of hurricane season

After Hurricane Oscar subsided on Tuesday, there is now no tropical development in the Atlantic basin, and the National Hurricane Center (NHC) says no further tropical development is expected next week.

However, don't be discouraged by the tropics just yet, as there are signs that the break could be short-lived.

A wildfire turns deadly in Connecticut, while blazes break out in the Northeast

A firefighter died Tuesday while helping to put out a forest fire that broke out as a drought spread across the Northeast, officials in Connecticut said.

Wildfires were reported in Connecticut and New Jersey, and fire warnings were issued due to the high fire danger across the region. The NWS said a combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and dry fuels would create “significantly increased fire growth potential” and fires could spread quickly if one broke out.
