Police in Tempe, Arizona, have arrested a 60-year-old man suspected of shooting at a Democratic National Committee office over the past two months and hanging suspicious bags of white powder from political signs in a nearby village.

Police announced the arrest late Tuesday and identified the suspect as Jeffrey Michael Kelly. He was charged with several crimes, including unlawful discharge of a firearm, shooting at a non-residential building and committing an act of terrorism, as well as criminal damage to property.

Tempe police also allege that the suspect posted several political signs in the village of Ahwatukee, Arizona, displaying suspicious bags of white powder and containing razor blades.

Last month, police said officers responded to the DNC office, which organizes and organizes campaigns for Vice President Kamala Harris, after employees reported noticing what appeared to be gunshots through the office's front windows. In early September, police said the front windows of the same office appeared to have been hit by a shotgun or pellet gun.

Police claimed on Tuesday that the suspect attacked the office in three separate incidents. The space will be shared by Harris' campaign staff, state Democratic Party staffers and campaigns for House and Senate candidates.

The DNC did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Arizona is one of the key battlegrounds where both Harris and former President Donald Trump are vying for election victory.

Police in Tempe, a city just outside Phoenix, said they would release more information about the suspect at a news conference Wednesday.
