UPDATE: October 22, 2024, 2:30 p.m.: IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) – Idaho Falls police have arrested a man charged in the death of Alejandra Paredes-Hurtado.

Police arrested 20-year-old Robert Lange of Idaho Falls on a charge of second-degree murder. After Lange saw the video released by police last night, police said he turned himself in at the Idaho Falls police complex around 11:15 a.m. Tuesday.

Lange is currently being held at the Bonneville County Jail.

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) – Idaho Falls Police are searching for a person seen walking in an officer's dashcam video. They believe the person knows something about Alejandra Paredes-Hurtado, who was found severely beaten on Saturday evening.

The video was captured as the officer turned onto Northgate Mile from May Street at 9:33 p.m. Saturday night. The person crossed May Street before turning south onto Northgate Mile. A short time later, Paredes-Hurtado was seen lying on the sidewalk in front of businesses in the 500 block of Northgate Mile.

His daughter-in-law, Paola Guzman, wrote in a post to the Life in Idaho Falls Facebook group: “Alejandro was hurt in the cruelest way possible, leaving behind so many broken, heartbroken hearts.” “He was a brother , husband, father, friend and the greatest grandpa you could have.”

His extended family is asking the community for help covering Paredes-Hurtado's medical bills and ongoing funeral costs. For more information about GoFundMe, click HERE.

Anyone who was in the area at 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19 and saw anything is asked to contact Idaho Falls Police Dispatch at (208) 529-1200.
