Kamala Harris and Liz Cheney are at the epicenter of the fight for America's lives

Watching Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris join forces with staunch Republican Liz Cheney on the campaign trail in the battleground states of Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin this week was impressive. It was also a clear warning sign for women across the United States. As they spoke on stage, I was moved to tears and beaming with pride at the same time.

Here we have two women from two extremely different backgrounds and opposing views on many key political issues – including abortion, gun control, foreign policy and much more – coming together to save America from the looming threat of another Trump presidency.

Unlike Republican Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, and longtime Sen. Lindsey Graham—and many other cowardly “conservatives” who obediently bend to Trump’s will—Harris and Cheney are not afraid. What's more, they express their opinions. They push back. They show machismo-obsessed Republicans what real alphas look like.

“I am a conservative. And I know that the most conservative of all conservative principles is fidelity to the Constitution,” Cheney said in Chester County, Pennsylvania. “You have to choose in this race between someone who has remained loyal to the Constitution, who will remain loyal to it, and Donald Trump, who – we are not the only ones predicting how he will behave.” We have seen what he will do after the did last election. We watched what he did on January 6,” she warned.

Cheney has been talking about January 6th for years. Her courage in leading the congressional investigation into January 6th cost her her seat in the House of Representatives. It cost her friends. It cost her a political career. And yet she cannot be stopped.

Liz Cheney is a hero. She does the right thing, no matter what it costs.

Cheney is still fighting forward. She doesn't back down. In fact, she's back on the offensive, fighting for truth, justice and commitment to the Constitution – and she's crossing party lines, joining Democrat Kamala Harris in bipartisan speech.

Like Cheney, Vice President Kamala Harris has spent her life protecting our freedoms and fighting for justice. And right now, she is at the center of the fight for America's lives.

It's not an exaggeration. America is at stake. And these two women – both winners of Forbes and Know Your Value's 50 Over 50 lists – surpass the men and become American heroes.

Whether on the debate stage or on the campaign trail, Harris and Cheney are at the forefront.

Conservatives have taken away access to life-saving health care. But Cheney, herself a lifelong conservative, joins Harris in calling on women across the country now facing these draconian restrictions to take back some freedoms. Because right now, both Harris and Cheney know that our reality is only a small part of what lies ahead if Trump wins.

At this moment, women are forced to bleed out in parking lots, give birth to unviable pregnancies, and even risk death because Trump is overturning Roe.

It's hard to believe, but it could get worse. We are in a moment when a former president is saying out loud what he will do and setting the record straight about using our nation's military to go after his political opponents or anyone he doesn't like.

Here we see Trump calling January 6th “a day of love,” and you can see that sentiment reflected on pro-Trump television networks. I fear that Americans will not believe that the riot in the nation's capital was anything at all.

This is the fascism that is happening before our eyes. We have a cult-like leader with a giant megaphone who repeats things over and over until they appear to be true. This is the most dangerous game ever played by a presidential candidate or politician in modern American history.

What gives me hope are the two smart, competent and experienced women who know their worth and will put everything aside to try to preserve and protect what many people simply cannot understand.

Freedom should be comfortable. We shouldn't have to worry about that. And yet perhaps we have become too comfortable. The concept is too turned on its head. We have become blasé about our own history. We are a nation of immigrants, like my parents, who fled Hitler and fled their countries to eventually come here to America to rebuild and be a part of our democracy.

Harris and Cheney are fighting for tomorrow. And when that comes tomorrow, they will be at the forefront of ensuring that America never stands on such a cliff again.
