Bob Lee murder trial: Khazar Momeni, sister of accused murderer Nima Momeni, reports heavy drug use and alleged sexual assault

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — Testimony continued Monday in Bob Lee's murder trial. Nima Momeni is accused of stabbing and killing Lee in the early hours of April 4, 2023. His sister Khazar Momeni was back on the witness stand Monday.

The testimony focused on the days before Bob Lee's death. Khazar Momeni testified that Bob Lee introduced her to Jeremy Boivin, whom she described as a drug dealer.

She says the day before Bob Lee's death, Boivin came to her apartment in the Millennium Tower with a bottle of nitrous oxide and a liter bottle of GHB, the date rape drug. After hanging out, she testified that she went for a car ride with Boivin and eventually returned to his apartment. There, she says, Boivin gave her LSD and GHB – drugs she says she was taking for the first time – in addition to the nitrous oxide and cocaine she was already using. Khazar testified that Bob and his close friend Bo Mohazzabi, who had been at Boivin's apartment, left because she said Bo made her uncomfortable. Khazar was joined by a friend of hers who she says was also taking GHB. Khazar said both women fainted. She says she woke up face down and crying, and that she remembers waking up twice to Boivin pulling down her pants and slapping her and grabbing her behind. Khazar testified that she called her brother Nima, Bob Lee's suspected killer, to pick her up. Nima took her back to her apartment in the Millennium Tower. There she says that Bob Lee came by and that he was friendly with Nima and even put his arm around him. Jeremy Boivin, who allegedly sexually abused her, also returned to her apartment to retrieve the GHB that had been left there; although Khazar testified that her husband had betrayed it. She testified to her brother Nima, confronting Boivin and saying he should have had six police officers waiting for Boivin to arrest him, given the alleged sexual assault Khazar described to her brother when he picked her up. She said Boivin wanted to fight Nima, but she de-escalated the situation.

ABC7 News reporter Melanie Woodrow reached out to Jeremy Boivin's defense attorney Valery Nechay regarding Khazar Momeni's statement.

In an emailed statement, she said: “Khazar Momeni’s account is false and full of blatant lies. She should be questioned about the duration and frequency of her voluntary sexual relationship with Mr. Boivin. Khazar Momeni is undoubtedly a drug addict, but.” These addiction problems existed before her voluntary and consensual encounters with Mr. Boivin. Her testimony proves that she is not a credible witness. Mr. Boivin looks forward to clearing his name at the right time and place.

Khazar testified that she continued to see Boivin as a drug dealer after Bob Lee's death and testified that Boivin physically assaulted her on more than one occasion. Additionally, her mother called the police on him. She said he threatened to blackmail her by releasing videos and pictures of her if she spoke to police. Khazar was also questioned about text messages she sent to her husband surrounding Bob Lee's death. She invoked her marital privilege and did not answer these questions.

Khazar will be back on the witness stand for cross-examination on Tuesday morning. Jeremy Boivin is on the witness list and may be called to testify at some point.
