NFL Monday Night: Derrick Henry of the Ravens breaks another long run

The NFL's all-time leader in rushing attempts, rushing yards and rushing touchdowns, Baltimore running back Derrick Henry, had 35 yards on six carries as the Ravens scored their third with 4:58 left in the third quarter against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Possession in the second half began Monday night.

By the time Henry scored with 6:32 to play, the former Alabama All-American had increased his total yards to 169 yards on 15 carries as Baltimore defeated the Buccaneers 41-31 to give the Ravens their fifth straight victory.

In the NFL's other Monday night game, the Arizona Cardinals defeated the Los Angeles Chargers 17-15 on Chad Ryland's 32-yard field goal on the final snap of the game.

Henry started his advance with an 81-yard run to the Tampa Bay 11-yard line. According to the NFL's Next Gen Stats, Henry reached a top running speed of 21.72 miles per hour – the fifth fastest speed recorded by an NFL ball carrier this season. But Bucs cornerback Zyon McCollum reached 21.85 mph to save a touchdown.

Monday night's big gain was Henry's fourth run of at least 80 yards in the NFL regular season:

· Henry became the second player in NFL history with a 99-yard run from scrimmage in the Tennessee Titans' 30-9 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on December 6, 2018.

· Henry ran 94 yards for a touchdown in the Titans' 42-36 victory over the Houston Texans on October 18, 2020.

· Henry ran 87 yards for a touchdown in the Ravens' 35-10 victory over the Buffalo Bills on September 29.

But for all his rushing yards, Henry scored on a 13-yard reception — the last of five touchdown passes Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson threw in the game. Jackson completed 17 of 22 passes for 281 yards without an interception.

Henry recorded the 21st game in NFL history in which a player ran for at least 150 yards but scored on a reception rather than a run.

The TD reception made Henry the seventh player in NFL history with a streak of at least seven seasons with 10 or more touchdowns each.

Tampa Bay quarterback Baker Mayfield completed 31 of 45 passes for 370 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. The Bucs lost wide receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin to injuries during the game.
