NFC Notes: Sean McVay, Kyle Shanahan, 49ers, Rams, Seahawks

49ers

The 49ers will face the Chiefs in Week 7 for a rematch in Super Bowl LVIII. San Francisco G Dominick Puni praised Chiefs DL Chris Jones for constant production in the most critical times.

“He shows up in big moments” Puni said, via Matt Barrows of The Athletic. “I think that’s his X-factor and what he brings to the table.”

49ers RT Colton McKivitz Jones confronted the former Rams DT Aaron DonaldDesignating Jones as one of them “Strongest Players” against whom he has ever played.

“They are different players” McKivitz said. “I mean, 95 (Jones) is obviously taller than Donald. It's hard to block him, man. He is one of the strongest players I have ever played against. You try to put as many hands on the guy as possible. And if protection failures occur, that obviously doesn’t help.”

49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said Kansas City's defensive system makes it harder to take Jones out of the game.

“There are just different variables that they do with their stuff.” Shanahan said. “Sometimes it's a little harder to eliminate (Jones) where he goes and just because of the pressure they put on. But he definitely deserves this attention. He’s as good a player as there is and we’re doing our best to eliminate him, but he’s making it pretty difficult for us.”

Aries

Rams HC Sean McVay said this rookie RB Blake Corum will continue to get opportunities as he has impressed the coaching staff.

I think what impressed me so much is the consistency of his approach, whether he got the opportunities behind Kyren or not.McVay said via Rams Wire. “But I thought he deserved it. Consistent work ethic and the ability to gain that confidence in these hands-on environments. And then I thought he did really well. There are still minimal chances, but he is heavy at the point of contact and a good, instinctive runner. Although he's done a great job and been able to show some breakthroughs through the offensive line and he's a guy that we're going to continue to give him the opportunities that we deserve. I really like what I saw and I was more impressed with the person and the way he handled it. And then I thought he maximized the ops he had against the Packers.”

Seahawks

Seahawks LB Tyrel Dodson explained why the team's run defense is failing.

“If a brick falls out of the wall, the whole wall will collapse.” Dodson said via Seahawks Wire. “So everyone has to play the same key of music, and then when it comes to the end we have to do these pieces. It starts with the linebackers because when you think about the run game, you think about the linebackers stopping it. I and (Jerome Baker), we will take full responsibility for it. I'll fix it. We’ll be a better defense.”
